Degottex

1918-1988

Jean Degottex (1918-1988) is a master of French lyrical abstraction. Inspired by calligraphy and Asian arts, he creates canvases where gesture and material become language. His compositions, between monochrome and subtle signs, reflect a poetic quest for space, light and silence.

Portrait of the artist Roger-Edgar Degottex, French abstract painter, presented by the AB Agnès Aittouares Gallery in Paris. Image illustrating Degottex in his creative universe, a reflection of his mastery of lyrical abstraction and his influence on French modern art of the 20th century.
