Maurice
Renoma
Maurice Renoma was born in 1940 and is a French stylist, photographer and scenographer.
Coming from a family of manufacturers, Maurice Renoma proved to be an avant-garde designer from an early age. He became known for his clothing lines, whose iconic pieces were quickly noticed by the whole of Paris and were sold out in the early 1960s, then later, in the first store he opened on Rue de la Pompe in Paris.
Building on this success that he met with Parisian youth but also with numerous artistic and political personalities, he oriented his eye at the beginning of the 90s and became the initiator of the concept of modography, by inventing the neologism “modographer”, combining fashion and so-called “instinctive” photography.
Since 1993, he has exhibited his photographs in France and abroad, in particular at Renoma Café Gallery which he opened in 2001 in Paris, and as part of festivals, international art fairs as well as important French and foreign galleries and institutions.
