“A Picasso for 100 euros”: lottery dilemma
“When you invest in a Picasso drawing that is sold all over the world, it's a safe bet,” says Agnès Aittouares, an expert in 19th and 20th century paintings with the National Federation of Experts Specialized in Art (FNEPSA). “The art market is very complex, much more than real estate,” explains the founder of Galerie AB, located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.
The price of a piece of art depends both on the reputation of its author but also on its date and quality. No need to leave a painting lying around in the garage waiting for it to increase in value. On the other hand, it can increase in value if it is exhibited in galleries or museums.
